In the early hours today, Mr. Bukhari stated on his twitter account that Qatar Airways will be flying from Washington DC to Islamabad on 2nd May 2020.

Pakistanis amidst of Covid-19 pandemic taking precautions to avoid severe consequences

 

Bukhari urged overseas waiting to come back to Pakistan to book tickets online to avail the opportunity.

Overseas Pakistanis are contacting Pakistani embassies to enroll in the listing to be brought back to Pakistan. In UAE more than 40,000 applications were received by Pakistan Embassy from desperate overseas Pakistanis who are looking to fly back to Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Overseas Pakistani and Human Resource Development, approximately 8.8 million Pakistanis live abroad. Middle East has the largest number of overseas Pakistanis with approximately 4.7 million residents followed by United Kingdom with around 1.2 million Pakistanis.

These overseas Pakistanis send billions of dollars in remittances every year. This makes these overseas Pakistanis an integral part of Pakistan’s economy.

Pakistan government must take concrete measures to help overseas stranded overseas Pakistanis in Washington DC and around the world to get back to their loved ones in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to US last year addressed overseas Pakistanis in Washington DC at Capital One Arena. It was for the first time in history that Pakistan’s Prime Minister was speaking to such a large number of overseas Pakistanis in Washington DC. It was reported that over 30,000 Pakistanis attended the event.

In his speech, Prime Minister Imran Khan shared his vision of making Pakistan a welfare state like the state of Madinah. He stressed on enhancing the tax net by implementing a progressive taxation system that will collect tax from the riches and spend on the poors.
