The Pakistani government plans to commence the privatization of power distribution companies (DISCOs) by April 2025. This initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce financial losses, and attract private investment in the energy sector. The first round will include companies in Islamabad, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Multan. Expressions of interest are expected to be called in April, with final transactions anticipated within three to six months thereafter.
